The Whites once again featured an extremely young lineup including 4 teenagers- Nick Godrey, Ted Dunn, Jahaan Ashfaq and Dan Schwartzmeyer, and another 4 players enjoying their first month in the sport. Halfback Kevin Tucker led the way in the first half with two close range tries as the Bomber forwards were too powerful for the Royals. Wing Marc Dethloff raced in for a try after nice handling from flyhalf Jim Morrison and center Doug Ashton. Captain and #8 Zach Giljum scored from a charge down to give his side a 24-0 lead. Replacement center Alan Kloss darted through a gap to extend the Bomber lead to 31-7 with Morrison's conversion. Center Dan Schwartzmeyer and fullback Adam Gottemoeller each scored after relentless phases from the pack to round out a solid 45-12 win. Morrison once again was accurate with his boot, making 5 of 7 conversions, many from diificult angles. The Royals competed well at the breakdowns, were strong in the lineouts and tackled well and often. Flyhalf Jay Shulte scored both Royal's tries- each from Bomber miscues. Vinnie Wroughton, playing his first ever match at hooker, was solid in set play and a real force around the pitch. Tighthead prop Tom Klepzig, in his third-ever rugby match, led the way up front with powerful scrummaging and with ball in hand. Joe Mertz played his first match at flanker and was heavily involved in the action along with fellow flanker Jim Hoffmann. Locks Sean "Kingpin" Gunnell and Ted Dunn put in good performances in the engine room. Wing Tim Stolarski was once again too much to handle, putting the ball across the gainline on attack, and tackling everything in sight.
New backs Brad Panke, Brent Papek and Ben Wodicker came on in the second half and performed well, making their tackles and taking care of the ball in attack.
