Here comes the soul train

The Bombers’ DII and DIII side opened their season with a friendly game against Sunday Morning over the weekend. The DII side kicked off first scoring 6 tries leading 41-0 at half with conversion made by James Sills. Big power from the forwards controlled the scrums as the backs ball handling exposed huge holes to run through. The DII side scored another 6 tries in the second half and defeated Sunday Morning’s A-side 72-0.

The DIII side faced off next with a couple of new and young players against Sunday Morning. The name of the game was control and the Bombers took control as Jim Morrison led the team through every attack. Ash Hyde had a big game with scoring the first three tries of the game and a big run from Ryan McDonald for another try. Conversions were made by Jim Morrison who even had a drop kick ball from 25 meters out. The defense kept Sunday Morning out of the try zone as the Bombers won 41-0.

Both games were a lot of fun to watch and play, but the biggest accomplishment is that both sides did not give up any points. It was a great victory but there are a lot of things we need to work on as we take on bigger and better teams.

This upcoming Saturday is a big day for both sides as they start League play. The DII side faces against Omaha and the DIII against the Hornets. Both games will be played at Lucier Park with kick off at 1PM and 3PM. The weather looks like it will be a great day so come on out and cheer the Bombers onto victory. The DIII side will have a quick turnaround as they will face Franklin County on Tuesday, March 12th, in Washington Missouri for a make-up game. Kickoff is at 7PM.
