After coming off a big win and test against Wisconsin the DII squad hosted the KC Blues at home. It may have not been the best field conditions as it continued to rain on and off throughout the match but that didn’t seem to slow the Bombers down.

The Bombers put up 14 points before the KC Blues would answer back with quick ball to the wing for their first try. At half the Bombers led 21-5, giving up another 12 points in the second half but would go on to defeat the Blues 36-17, remaining undefeated in league play.

Celebrating the win that evening the Bombers held their annual Own the Bar Night at club sponsor Colombos Cafe & Tavern. It was a very successful night for the club with the money raised that will help cover travel and gear cost for upcoming games and playoffs. A big “Thank You” to Colombos for hosting, auction winners, and all those who attended.

No time for rest as the boys were back at it last weekend with the DII squad traveling to Chicago to take on Lincoln Park and the DIII side participating in the 69th Annual St. Louis Ruggerfest.

Lincoln Park had trouble with misplaced kicks and keeping the ball out of their end to which the Bombers took full advantage of. The Bombers lead 19-0 before Lincoln Park would maul a lineout in for a try at half. That would be the only points Chicago would achieve as the Bombers put up another 24 points in the second half, beating Lincoln Park 43-5.

Back in St. Louis at Ruggerfest the DIII side had a busy weekend with two matches both Saturday and Sunday. With limited numbers and some Old Boys help the Bombers won both matches on Saturday, 31-12 over River City and 15-8 over the Outlaws. On Sunday the Bombers were able to hold off Springfield MO is a very close game till the end with the final score 12-3 and would play Iowa City Ducks for the Championship.

Bombers were first to score within the first 5 minutes by Jake Fautley in what seemed the most structured offensive play the Bombers put together. Iowa City didn’t let that get them down as they rebounded with two tries to take the lead. The Bombers struggled with tackling and would be down a man before the end of the first half to a red card. Despite being down a man the 14 remaining players picked up the intensity and were able to regain control, take the lead and win the 69th Annual Ruggerest 24-14 over the Ducks. It was a great weekend and victory as there were a lot of players playing out of position.
