St. Louis showed great team balance with their strong forwards laying the foundation for their fleet backline. Ebner raced in a pair of tries to open the scoring, both converted from near the touchline into a stiff breeze by flyhalf Rene Monette. St. Louis center Conail Boyd ran left from a midfield scrum and scorched the GOATS defense to pull the Bombers in front 19-0. Bomber lock Hayden Mexted elected to quick tap a penalty from 40 meters out and sliced through the defenders to score near the posts, 26-0 St. Louis. Bomber prop Scott "Bowling Ball" Lay made several trademark runs down the center of the park, and was rewarded with a try at the 30 minute mark to push St. Louis out to 33-0. Younger brother Bryan Lay next made a nice assist to wing Ebner to give him his hat trick and a 38-0 Bomber lead. Another Boyd try put St. Louis up 43-0, before Omaha finally got on the board at the 39 minute mark with a Jake Bowers try from short range, converted by Conall Murphy. Halftime: St. Louis 43 GOATS 7 The second half saw several substitutions for St. Louis, and an improved performance from Omaha after a stern halftime talk by GOATS coach Ross Cuiffo. Omaha #8 Kurt Weeder played a brilliant second half as a force in the lineouts and a producer of several punishing runs. Weeder was rewarded with two tries, both converted by Murphy. The Bombers notched three more tries, highlighted by center Eric Hinson's try from a Garret Lambert poach near midfield. Final score: St. Louis 62 GOATS 21
Omaha lock Jake Bowers, prop Marc Haiar and flanker Phil Lee stood out on defense and also punished the tacklers with ball in
hand. Omaha can take home some pride as a result of their gutsy second half display.
