Kohlfeld was suffering from a severe lack of possession and decided to attack from anywhere with their scraps. A quick throw in led to a 50 meter try for Kohlfeld as powerful wing Cole Burton thumped across the tryline to even the score at 5-5. Bomber wing Josh Witten finished off a line break by Justin Mastrioanni to push the Bombers up 10-5 thirty minutes into the match. Flanker Josh Rainey capped off another Bomber attack with a try just before halftime to increase the lead at the break to 15-5. The Bombers continued their dominance in possesssion in the second half as lineouts were dominated by #8 Garrett Lambert, lock John McGuire and Rainey. The Bombers had an edge in the scrums as Canaan Craig, Bill Williams and Corey Gunnell put in the hard work in the front row. Center Eric Hinson bulled over from short range and flyhalf Zach Giljum converted to push the Bombers up 22-5 early in the half. Another Crutchfied try and a Zach Giljum penalty kick increased the Bomber lead to 30-5 with 20 minutes to play. Bomber flanker Jim Hoffmann crossed the line after some good work from center Adam Gottemoeller, and Giljum's conversion gave the Bombers a 37-5 lead. Giljum added a try of his own to push his side up 42-5. Kohlfeld flyhalf Alan Kloss kept his side from folding their tent. Kloss made several breaks in the late stages, resulting in two nice support tries by flanker Tim Bosler. Bosler is the nephew of Bomber legend Vic Miller, and is definitely a player to watch in the future. Kohlfeld also struggled after their captain Marc Harris left the pitch late in the first half with a knee injury. Kohlfeld can be proud of their strong finish despite the 42-15 final score line.
The Bombers gained 5 bonus points with the victory and 4+ tries. The Whites are still in the hunt for another MRFU crown,
despite their rare loss last week.
