A youthful Bomber White side defeated Truman State 45-7 in a friendly played on Easter weekend. The Whites ran in seven tries and played strong defense to remain undefeated on the season.

Halfback Kevin Tucker led the way with two first half tries. Centers Nick Godfrey and Joe Mertz also added first half tries, on the back of strong play from the Bomber pack. Flyhalf Justin Mastroianni converted three of the tries to give his side a 26-0 halftime lead.

Truman battled hard all day, and were very strong in support and in the tackle. But the difference was the Bombers ability to finish off attacking chances- an area where Truman's young team struggled.

Bomber loose forwards Zach Giljum and Kyle Manley added tries to push their team out to 38-0. Truman responded when fullback Josh Harris powered over to put his team on the scoreboard. Flyhalf Will Holleman's conversion brought the scoreline to 38-7. Mastroianni closed the scoring with a try, converted by fullback Jim Morrison, to close out a strong team performance and a 45-7 victory.

Three Bombers appeared in their first ever rugby match and performed well. Prop Kyle Becker went the full 80 minutes and did an outstanding job up front. Wing Matt Staed and flanker Mike McGowan played strong on defense and did fundamentally good work on the day.

Hooker Vinnie Wroughton put in a strong game from hooker against his former college side, with pinpoint accuracy in the lineout and a good work rate around the pitch. Locks Kingpin Gunnell and Sam Stahnke also did good work in the set play, providing a good platform for the Bomber backline.

An even younger Bomber side took the pitch in the day's second match. This very entertaining match featured several highlights- including fullback Pat Ryan's 80 meter counter attack for a try, the Wozniak brother's (Scott and Matt) teaming up for a long ramble down the touchline, and prop Jahaan Ashfaq's several charges into the teeth of the Truman defense from penalty taps.

The Bomber try scorers were Pat Ryan and Sean Gunnell, while Truman's lone try came from wing Ignatious Onyewadume off of an intercept. Bomber center Nick Adams put in a huge effort in attack and defense to inspire his teammates. Bomber flanker Matthew Perkins also performed well in his first ever rugby match.
