Bombers Outpace Nashville
On a windy but otherwise beautiful day at Sportport, the Bomber Women got back on track with a 54-19 victory over a hard playing Nashville side. Halfback Michelle Bella started the Bomber scoring in this stop-start affair by dotting down just inside the corner flag at the 7 minute mark. Moments later, Mari Therrien notched her first 5 pointer in what would be a five try day for the always dangerous flyhalf. Robbyn Keating returned to action in style, scoring a pure finesse try started by fellow Canadian G's hard work upfront. Therrien and Keating would again score another try a piece for a halftime lead of 29-0.

Therrien again opened the Bomber scoring in the second showing real pace as she outdistanced all defenders racing 60 meters to score between the sticks just 5 minutes in. Nashville hadn't and never did give up and used a wind at their back and some hard work by their forwards hitting the ball up to smash through the Bomber defense to get on the board with a try at the 48 minute mark. The Nashville forwards began to rally and a seesaw battle ensued until Michelle Bella answered Nashville with her second try of the day. The back and forth battle continued upfront until Mari Therrien caught the Nashville defense off-guard, going untouched for 50 meters on a quick-tap penalty. No. 8 Dre West pounded down a try moments later to speak for the Bomber forwards. Nashville wasn't done though and worked hard to punch two more well earned tries at the 77 and 80 minute marks, interrupted only by Mari Therrien's fifth try of the day at the 78 minute mark. Credit to the Nashville side who played hard right to the end and made the Bombers work to stay out of trouble in the second half.
