Survival Weekend & Directions

The 2013 Survival weekend will be the weekend of January 26. The Bombers have been hosting a survival weekend for over 30 years and is always a great time. A few hearty souls will venture into the darkness friday night, but most Bombers will arrive Saturday morning, and depart Sunday mid-day.

Roads pending, it’ll be a throw-back Survival Weekend as we return to Alvin’s Mountain near Fredericktown. Alternate location is Dirt Leg’s cabin near St. Clair. Confirmation and direction will be coming by mid-week next week.

For those new to the survival weekend there are a few things you need to bring:

  1. Bring a chair (very important)
  2. Sleeping bag & Pillow
  3. Bring a tent if you have one, or sleep in a car
  4. Proper clothing for the weather (it gets very cold)
  5. Drinks and food
  6. etc…

Make sure you check back for more details as the come available.

DIRECTIONS
Directions (travel time approx 1 hr 20 min):

55 south to HWY 67 south (past Festus). Go Right on HWY 72 West at Fredericktown Exit. Go 5 miles then go left on HWY D.

Proceed on D past Silvermine Campground. Blacktop ends, proceed on gravel past cemetary, two low-water bridges, then a creek bridge. Go left on first road past creek bridge and proceed through gate.

Proceed uphill. Road veers left at mountaintop. Proceed and camp will be in woods on right. Look for signs. If you get lost, call Alvin 314-402-3009. If you do not think your vehicle will make it up the hill, park inside the gate and walk up. We will shuttle you down for your gear.
