Mike McGowan – BomberStrong

On March 23rd St. Louis Bomber Mike McGowan suffered a stroke while at practice. What appeared to maybe be simple head lightness the Bomber Coaching staff were quick to realize that they had a much serious situations on their hands.

The St. Louis paramedics were quickly on the scene and Mike was awake when they arrived but wasn’t until he arrived at the hospital that doctors realized he had suffered a stroke.

Mike underwent surgery that evening to relieve pressure but was still unable to speak. Luckily for Mike he has a very good chance to make a full recovery but will require a lot of therapy to get there.

Madison Goddard and Allison Naughton have set up a “YouCaring” fundraiser to help cover the medical costs for Mike.

Mike has been part of the Bomber family for years playing multiple positions from wing, flanker, and most recently prop. Mike has a strong love to the sport of rugby but an even a stronger love to his son, Michael.

Any contribution would greatly help Mike and his family as he makes his way down the road to recovery.

Also please keep in your thoughts and prays for Old Boy John “JK” Kyle who suffered a second stroke while on vacation in Wyoming. John was airlifted to Salt Lake City and has a very long road ahead of him as well.
